Many Japanese lacquer crafts are decorated with &#8220;lacquer paintings,&#8221; a favorite of Yanagi Muneyoshi. Among them, bowls such as Hidehira bowls, which originated in the Nanbu region centered in Iwate Prefecture, are highly regarded as being very superior. A wide range of other types of lacquerware will also be on display, including Ryukyu lacquerware and items used for celebratory occasions by the general public.<\/p>\n<p>In Korean lacquer crafts, however, boxes decorated with mother-of-pearl inlays (raden), which are inlaid with patterns of flowers and birds, are particularly striking.
