The temple enshrines the Bodhisattva of the Holy Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, said to have been created by the great priest Jikaku, and is also the 11th of the 33 Kannon temples of the Edo Sanjusan Kannon Fudajo. The temple grounds contain the gravesite of Yaoyaya Oshichi, a famous figure in kabuki and bunraku plays, including Ihara Saikaku&#8217;s &#8220;Koshoku Gonin Onna&#8221; (The Five Women of Color), and three other gravesites, one built by the priest as a memorial service, one built by Iwai Hanshiro in honor of his performance as Oshichi, and one built by a neighbor for a memorial service on the 270th anniversary of the temple&#8217;s founding.
