Soseki&#8217;s first novel, &#8220;I am a Cat,&#8221; was written here, and since it was also the setting for his works, the house became familiarly known as the &#8220;Cat&#8217;s House. Soseki also wrote &#8220;Botchan&#8221; and &#8220;Kusamakura&#8221; here, and established himself as a writer. The house is now the Nippon Medical School Alumni Hall, and a monument with Yasunari Kawabata&#8217;s calligraphy and statues of two cats can be seen there.
