Many historical figures and celebrities have been laid to rest here, including Eiichi Shibusawa, a businessman active during the Meiji and Taisho periods, the Japanese-style painter Taikan Yokoyama, and the former Prime Minister Ichiro Hatoyama. It is also the site of the five-story pagoda of Tennoji Temple, known as the model for Rohan Koda&#8217;s novel &#8220;The Five-Story Pagoda,&#8221; and today the foundation stone remains.
