In those days, the year’s market started at Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine on December 14 and 15, followed by Sensoji Temple on December 17 and 18, Kanda Myojin on December 20 and 21, and finally Yagenbori Fudoson on December 28. The Yagenbori Fudoson year-end market was called “Noume no Toshi-ichi” (the year-end market of the year of the harvest) because it is the last in a series of year-end markets. The only other year-end markets that have continued to be held to this day are the Hagoita Market at Sensoji Temple and the year-end market at Yagenbori Fudoson. At Yagenbori Fudoson, New Year’s goods such as shimenzakari decorations are sold as in the past.

At the same time, the local merchants’ association also organizes the Great Deutsche Bank Market. The Higashi-Nihonbashi area is home to a wholesale district, where clothing, shoes, handbags, daily necessities, and other items normally sold to vendors are sold at discount retail prices.

Event SummaryOutline

Location

Near Yagenbori Fudoin Near Higashi-Nihonbashi 2-chome, Chuo-ku, Tokyo

Access

3 minutes from Higashi-Nihonbashi Station on the Toei Subway Asakusa Line, 5 minutes from Bakuro-Yokoyama Station on the JR Sobu Rapid Line and Toei Subway Asakusa Line

Holding period

Sunday, December 26 – Tuesday, December 28, 2022

Opening Hours

          9:00～17:00

Contact Us

          03-3866-6220

Related Links

Official Site

Holding period 2022.12.26 〜 2022.12.28 Year-end market to close the year in Tokyo In the Edo period, “year-end fairs” were held at various places in December to sell New Year’s goods such as kadomatsu, Oshogatsu decorations, and shimenawa (sacred straw ropes).
