Awa Odori is performed by a group called &#8220;ren,&#8221; which consists of dancers and musical instruments (shamisen, flute, gong, gong, shimedaiko, large drum, etc.). There are various types of &#8220;ren,&#8221; including graceful and glamorous &#8220;onna odori&#8221; (female dancers), heroic &#8220;odori&#8221; (male dancers), and &#8220;ohayashi,&#8221; a group that uses roaring sounds, unique melodies, and bamboo and barrels for narimonos.<br \/>\nThe colorful costumes are also well worth seeing.<br \/>\nThe 2022 festival will be held for the first time in three years. Unfortunately, the dance performances at the eight consecutive performance halls located north and south of Koenji Station that are set up every year will be canceled, and indoor stage performances with different atmospheres will be held at two halls in the 2 &#8220;Za-Koenji&#8221;.
