In this event, people pray for good health and safety as they walk through a thatched straw ring and purify themselves by transferring impurities from their bodies to dolls.<br \/>\nIt is held twice a year, in June and December, and the June event is called &#8220;Nagoshi-no-harae. At Kameido Tenjinja Shrine, the Natsukoshi Purification is held on June 25 every year, and many visitors come to purify themselves of the sins and impurities they have committed in the six months since the New Year by walking through a 3 meter diameter thatched ring.
