The location where Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo is located was a scenic spot where camellias had been growing wild and called “Tsubakiyama” since the Nanbokucho Period. In the Edo period (1603-1868), the site was the residence of the Kuroda family of the Joso Kururi domain. In 1878, the military and political leader Aritomo Yamagata purchased the site and built a garden and residence named “Chinzan-so”. The garden is open to visitors who stay overnight or use the restaurant. Fireflies in flight in May and June, and foggy displays of a sea of clouds are also popular.
