Hatoyama Kaikan (Otowa, Tokyo)(Hatoyama Kaikan)

Adam Style . Ichiro Hatoyamalocation for making or filming a moviewestern-style house

Hatoyama Kaikan was built in 1924 as the private residence of Ichiro Hatoyama, who served as the 52nd to 54th Prime Ministers of Japan, and was later transformed into a memorial hall to the achievements of the Hatoyama family in 1996. The building was also used for the inaugural meeting of the Liberal Party (now the Liberal Democratic Party) and became an important stage in Japanese political history. It is a Western-style building made of reinforced concrete, which was rare at the time, and is equipped with an English-style reception room called the Adam style. Many stained glass windows were used, including the famous motif of a dove soaring above the five-story pagoda on the staircase landing. The elegant appearance of the building has not diminished, and it has been used for filming dramas such as “Boys Over Flowers” and “Rich Man Poor Man.
