To a town factory in Ota Ward that is not usually seen
Ota-ku, Tokyo is home to approximately 4,200 factories. The program offers an opportunity for visitors to experience the craftsmanship of manufacturing and to interact with craftspeople.
The 12th event, in 2022, will be the first real on-site event in three years. Each factory will be open to the public during the event, and there will be time for participants to tour the factories freely. In addition to the factory open house, there will be an introduction to the history of manufacturing and factory architecture in Ota Ward, as well as workshops using scrap wood and laser cutters. Factory introduction contents will also be available online.
The event was held throughout Ota Ward, and unique events were also held at locations other than the factory. At “Haneda x PiO (Haneda PiO)” in Haneda Innovation City, workshops utilizing ultra high-speed 3D printers will be held. At “KOCA,” a manufacturing base, visitors can try their hand at making an original Christmas tree, and at Rokugo BASE, a business start-up support facility that opened in October 2021, an “Entrepreneur Petit Trade Fair” will be held to introduce companies that have started operations there.
