The Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum is an art museum housed in the former Asakamiya Residence, a building of modern elegance unified by a decorative style known as Art Deco. The lush garden is also an attraction.
Building Open House 2022: Rare Books of Art Deco” is an annual building open house exhibition. This year’s exhibition offers visitors a glimpse into the richly decorative world of Art Deco through the display of books from the Art Deco period, photo albums of glamorous show windows, magazines featuring expositions and interiors, and colorfully illustrated picture books.
During the event, a mansion space is recreated with furniture and furnishings. In addition, the curtains, which are normally closed to protect the artworks, will be opened so that visitors can appreciate them carefully in a comfortable space filled with natural light.
