2023 Katsushika Iris Festival

Holding period

2023.05.29 〜 2023.06.18

Approximately 20,000 brightly colored irises are in full bloom.

Horikiri Shobuen is famous for its irises. It is a large-scale iris garden with approximately 200 species and 6,000 plants, and was the subject of nishiki-e woodblock prints by Edo ukiyoe artist Hiroshige Utagawa and others. Mizumoto Park is the largest park in the 23 wards of Tokyo and the only park in the city with an aquatic landscape. Here, too, 14,000 irises of about 100 varieties are planted.

The Katsushika Iris Festival has been held annually at these two venues. This year, the areas surrounding both venues will be very lively again. On Saturdays and Sundays during the festival (Sundays only at Horikiri-Shobuen), local volunteer groups will hold various events such as stage events, parades, and lighting up of lights. Also, on Saturdays and Sundays during the festival, the Shobu Meguri Bus will be running between the two venues and Shibamata Teishakuten, Kanamachi Station, and Kameari Station, so be sure to take advantage of this service.
