Spring Rose Festival

Holding period

2023.04.28 〜 2023.06.30

About 200 roses of about 100 varieties will be in full bloom! This year, the park will open early in the morning.

The Old Furukawa Garden is designated as a national place of scenic beauty. It is also known as a famous place for roses, and from late April to early June, 200 roses of about 100 varieties, including the Royal Princess and Maria Callas, dedicated to Her Imperial Highness Princess Aiko Toshinomiya, are in full bloom, and the “Spring Rose Festival” is held when the roses are at their best.
A Western-style house stands on top of a small hill on the grounds, which contrasts beautifully with the roses.

This year, the garden will open one hour earlier than usual on May 11 (Thu.) to 13 (Sat.) so that visitors can enjoy the scent of roses in the morning. The garden will also offer “Spring Rose Concert” (*to be cancelled in case of rain), in which visitors can enjoy live music with roses and Western-style buildings in the background, and “Garden Guide” (*to be cancelled in case of rain; from 14:00 on each day from Monday to Friday in May, and from 11:00 and 14:00 on each day on Saturday, Sunday and holidays; 60-minute summary each time), in which volunteer garden guides will guide visitors around the Japanese Garden and other areas of the park. A full lineup of contents is available. Temporary stalls selling rose gelato and rose goods are also popular. Please participate in the “Spring Rose Popularity Poll,” in which you can vote for your favorite roses both on-site and via Twitter.
