Fuji, a world-class symbol of Japan, will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2023 after being inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2013.

Fuji, as well as Japanese paintings of cherry blossoms, a symbol of Japan, will be exhibited. Fuji by leading modern and contemporary painters, from Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige to Yokoyama Taikan and Komatsu Hitoshi.

A must-see is Hokusai Katsushika Hokusai’s “Noboryu no Fuji” from his “One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji” (private collection), published as a compilation of his works on the theme of Mount Fuji. Fuji by other masters of Japanese painting, such as Yokoyama Taikan’s “Reinbu Fuji” and Komatsu Hitoshi’s fiery “Red Fuji” (both from the Yamatane Museum of Art collection), are also worth seeing.
