The Haneda Festival is a summer festival of Haneda Shrine, the guardian deity of Haneda. A must-see is the portable shrine, which is carried in a unique way called yokota. The right person jumps up and the left person crouches down, and this is repeated alternately. It is said to imitate a ship swaying in the waves, and is very dynamic and heroic. It is said to be unique to Haneda, which flourished as a fishing town in the old days. The portable shrine is carried by 3,000 people alone and attracts more than 30,000 spectators.
