Meguro Citizens’ Festival, an annual autumn event, held for the first time in three years
The Meguro Citizens’ Festival, a festival representing Meguro City, will be held for the first time in three years. More than 20 booths and kitchen cars will be set up in the “Festival Square,” which will be filled with booths, performances of musical instruments such as guitar and ukulele, hula dancing, street performances, and other stages.
At the “Hometown Products Exhibition,” Japanese confectionery stores from friendship cities Kakuda City and Kesennuma City in Miyagi Prefecture, Kanazawa City in Ishikawa Prefecture, and Meguro City in Meguro, etc. will be open for purchase, offering local specialties such as pickled plums from Kakuda City, Sanma Tsukudani from Kesennuma City, and Kintsuba from Kanazawa City. At the “Children’s Plaza,” there will be a giant cardboard maze, dancing, super ball scooping, and many other family-friendly activities.
One of the main events, the “Meguro Sanma Festival,” features fresh sanma from Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, grilled over charcoal and served free of charge with kabosu from Oita Prefecture, and has been the talk of the TV news every year. Please note, however, that the advance application for grilled samma tickets closes on Monday, August 29.
