Toranomon Okano Eizen

Founded in the first year of the Taisho era (1912)

The signature product since its founding, the mame-daifuku, is almost guaranteed to sell out by the morning!?

Located in Toranomon, Minato City, an area lined with many offices, Toranomon Okano Eizen is a popular shop often visited by nearby business workers. The signature mame-daifuku, made with bean paste prepared fresh from early every morning, is popular not only as a luxurious treat for yourself but also as a gift for business partners or loved ones, and the shop can get crowded with customers in the morning. As the sweets are sold only on the day they are made and quantities are limited, they may sell out by early afternoon, so regulars know to make a reservation by the previous day or call in the morning to have items set aside.Of course, in addition to mame-daifuku, the shop offers a full lineup of famous wagashi such as kuri-manju and azuma-manju.Each product uses its own method of cooking and mashing the azuki beans and adjusting the sugar balance, creating unique bean pastes that make tasting and comparing them a pleasure.

History

Toranomon Okano Eizen was founded in 1912 when the first owner, Katsushige Matsushita, who trained at Okano Eizen in Kudan, established his own shop.A dedicated craftsman with a strong attention to detail, the first owner focused solely on daifuku from the beginning and created a unique flavor. The mame-daifuku, whose taste has been preserved by the second and third generations, continues to enjoy unwavering popularity despite changing times.
