The main shrine portable shrine procession is held! Stalls lined the streets, creating a festive mood!

Located near Shinobazu no Ike Pond in Ueno Park, it is an annual festival of Yushima Tenmangu Shrine, also known as “Tenjin Matsuri,” which is dedicated to the god of learning.
The annual festival is held on May 25, and the main shrine portable shrine procession is held on the Saturday of that week. The procession travels approximately 300 meters one way from the front gate of the shrine to the top of the Mikumi-zaka hill and back.
Edo-sato Kagura (Shinto music and dance) and Japanese drums are dedicated in the precincts of the shrine, and there is also a display of ikebana (flower arrangements). Stalls will be lined up to create a festive atmosphere.
