300 ume trees of about 20 varieties, mainly white ume, are in full bloom.

Yushima Tenjin has been a popular ume (plum) viewing spot since the Edo period (1603-1868). The ume garden in the precincts of the shrine is planted with 300 ume trees of about 20 varieties, including Shirakaga (white ume), Tsukikage (moonlight), and Kanko-ume (red ume), and is usually at its best from mid February to early March.

During the Ume Festival, Nodate (outdoor tea ceremony) and portable shrine procession will be held, and a product exhibition will be held selling specialties from Noto Town and Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. There will also be a karaoke contest, a portrait charity corner by the University of Tokyo Manga Club, and a corner displaying works created by students of Tokyo University of the Arts.
