The Marunouchi Noryo Festival, where visitors can enjoy the sound of 1,020 wind chimes and shaved ice from popular stores, and Otemachi Enka 2023, where the office district will be transformed into a fairground for adults to enjoy.
For two consecutive weeks, the Marunouchi Noryo Festival will be held on Gyoko-dori Avenue on July 28 (Fri.) and 29 (Sat.), followed by Otemachi Enka 2023 on Otemachi Naka-dori Avenue on August 3 (Thu.) and 4 (Fri.), bringing color to the summer nights of Marunouchi.
At the Marunouchi Noryo Festival, 1,020 wind chimes will be displayed on Gyoko-dori Avenue with Tokyo Station’s Marunouchi Station Building in the background, based on the concept of “Edo’s summer scenery” to help visitors feel cool even through sound. During the event, three popular shaved ice stores, including Kamakura’s popular Taiyaki Namiei, will open special kitchen car stands, and on Friday, July 28, the “Marunouchi de Uchimizu” event will be held to experience Uchimizu, an environmentally friendly way to feel cool in the traditional way. At the start of the event, an opening ceremony will be held, with the Mayor of Chiyoda Ward and other guests invited to join the general public in sprinkling water all at once. With the summer heat wave predicted, visitors will be able to enjoy a “Japanese cool space” with the summer sounds of wind chimes and space.
Otemachi Enka 2023″ will be held for the seventh time since its inaugural event in 2016 with the aim of revitalizing the Otemachi area. In addition to the standard fair activities, there will be Edo-themed contents such as sparkler making, a koto performance by koto player Yuko Kikunagi, and a performance by Japanese dancer Umejyu Nakamura. In addition, festival menu items such as “Oedo Yakisoba” and “Yaki Corn” will be served with the cooperation of the Japanese inn “Hoshinoya Tokyo”. Otemachi, an office district, will be transformed into a “fair for adults to enjoy” where people can casually drop by on their way home from work and fully enjoy the summer festival night.
This is the first summer season since the new type of coronavirus was classified as a “Class 5” virus. As the economy and social activities are trying to regain their pre-corona routine, we will provide an opportunity to reaffirm the “unique” enjoyment that real communication can create.
