Experience a traditional fair in Yanesen area

The “Nezu/Sendagi Downtown Festival” is held every year for two days on Saturday and Sunday in October at Nezu Shrine, which is also known as a famous azalea viewing spot. At the “Enka Hiroba” (fairgrounds) set up in the shrine precincts, product exhibitions, booths, and demonstrations of traditional crafts are held. At the Fureai Hiroba, there will be a drum and fife corps, Japanese drums, and a brass band, as well as darts and soap bubbles at the children’s plaza. There will also be a flea market with about 50 stalls, so look for bargains.

In addition to Nezu Shrine, eight other facilities will serve as sub venues for various events: Shinobazu-dori Fureaikan, Aizome Odori, Miyanaga Naka-dori, Nezu Ginza-dori, Nezu Kannon-dori, Yomise-dori Enmei Jizoson, Sudo Park and the Bunkyo City Mori Ogai Memorial Museum.
