Museum Spring Festival

Holding period

2023.03.17 〜 2023.04.09

The Museum’s annual “Spring Festival” will be held again this year

The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo is located in an area famous for its cherry blossoms, such as the Imperial Palace, Chidorigafuchi, and Kitanomaru Park. Because of its ideal location for stopping by on the way to view cherry blossoms, the museum will hold its annual spring event, “Spring Festival at the Museum,” again this year.

In the “MOMAT Collection” (March 17 (Fri.) to May 14 (Sun.)), about 30 spring-like works, mostly folding screens, are exhibited in one room, including “Flower Evening” by Tamaki Funada with its vivid pink petals and “Cherry Blossom Screens” by Tamae Atomi, who specialized in cherry blossom paintings.

Other events include the “Spring Festival Online Talk Rally” (*reservation required, free of charge), in which visitors can view spring-related artworks online, and the “Collection Guide,” in which guided tours of about three works from the collection selected by the museum’s staff are followed by dialogue.

In addition, a resting area will be set up in the front garden with a stool stand, and the restaurant “Ra e Mikuni” will sell special food and drinks for takeout. The museum store will also offer ticket files, masking tapes, and other original spring-like goods. Please enjoy both the cherry blossoms at Chidorigafuchi, the Imperial Palace, and spring at the museum.
