Meet with Flowers in TOKYO YNK

Holding period

2023.03.16 〜 2023.04.08

A month of contact with flowers in Yaesu, Nihonbashi and Kyobashi

Held in the Yaesu, Nihonbashi, and Kyobashi areas for about a month. In addition to cherry blossom decorations & workshops at Kyobashi Edoguran and cherry blossom menus at Tokyo Square Garden and restaurants at ICCHO Nihonbashi, various flower-related events will be held mainly at commercial facilities. Ikebana works by contemporary flower arrangement artist Ayayo Ohzono will create a gorgeous atmosphere at Tokyo Square Garden, and floral objects by floral artist Takuto Aikabe will create a festive atmosphere at Tokyo Tatemono Yaesu Building and Tokyo Tatemono Nihonbashi Building.

The main content of the event, “Yale Flower,” is to distribute free fresh carnations or gerberas at various locations in the area. 7,000 flowers are scheduled to be distributed during the event. The purpose of the event is to support flower growers throughout Japan who grow flowers and to stimulate demand for flowers. During the Edo period, townspeople bought flowers and plants to enjoy the changing seasons and to bring good luck for the New Year, and “flower vendors,” who carried a balance pole and sold seasonal flowers, were very popular. During the event, “Hanaguruma,” a modernized version of the flower seller, will appear throughout the city and distribute flowers free of charge. The distribution will take place on Thursdays and Fridays during the event period, as well as on Saturday the 8th.
