Appreciation of masterpieces of Japanese art featuring cherry blossoms & cherry blossom viewing in the garden

The Tokyo National Museum, located in Ueno Onshi Park and celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, will hold “Cherry Blossom Viewing at the Museum” during the spring cherry blossom season. In each exhibition room of the main building, various masterpieces of Japanese art featuring cherry blossoms, such as paintings and ceramics, are on display. The garden on the north side of the Honkan, which is planted with some 10 varieties of cherry trees including Someiyoshino, will be open to the public, so please enjoy viewing cherry blossoms in the garden after viewing the art (open 10:00-16:00, subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. During the exhibition period, there will also be participatory events such as the “Sakura Stamp Rally,” in which visitors can answer quizzes related to the artworks in the galleries and download gift images for those who answer all the questions correctly, and the “Tokyo Expo Haiku Poetry Contest (Hanami de Ikku),” an online call for artworks featuring cherry blossoms and haiku poems on the theme of cherry blossoms.
