Located about ten buildings from Kaminarimon toward Tawaramachi, “Asakusa Kawamatsu” has been serving Japanese cuisine centered on eel since its founding.The Kawamatsu style uses carefully selected domestic eel, soaked in water for two days before cooking.The plump and tender grilled eel rice boxes are fragrant and have long been loved by many.The “Ikada-jū,” featuring eel overflowing from the box, and the “Naka-ire Don,” with eel hidden beneath the rice in two layers, are also popular.A wide selection of sake that pairs well with the dishes is also available.The spacious interior allows you to relax comfortably, with plenty of space between seats.The restaurant also accepts private reservations for small groups and parties, making it ideal for special occasions such as anniversaries.

History

Founded in 1873 (Meiji 6) as an eel restaurant in the same location as today.The original building even featured a balcony.The building was lost in the Great Kanto Earthquake, but was later rebuilt, and the restaurant continues to operate in Asakusa to this day.
