Exhibition Taro Okamoto

Holding period

2022.10.18 〜 2022.12.28

A major retrospective of the life of artist Taro Okamoto

Taro Okamoto, known for creating the Tower of the Sun, part of the theme pavilion for the 1970 Japan World Exposition (Osaka Expo), is an artist who continues to fascinate people even after his death. The “Exhibition: Taro Okamoto” is the largest-ever retrospective of his artistic life.

The key point is that the exhibition covers representative and important works from his early years to his later years. A large number of his major works, mostly from the collections of museums in Japan, will be exhibited in one place to explore the essence of his work. Don’t miss “Wounded Arms,” “Night,” “Rules of the Forest,” and a preparatory sketch for “Myth of Tomorrow,” a large work measuring approximately 11 meters in width that was displayed in the passageway of Shibuya Station. Unique related goods will also be on sale, including a three-face pouch (Tower of the Sun) and a round drawstring (with crunch chocolate).
