It is considered one of the three major festivals in Japan along with the Gions Festival in Kyoto and the Tenjin Festival in Osaka. Highlights include “Sanno Taiko,” a Japanese drum beating in front of the worship hall around noon, and the “Mindaori Festival (Bon Odori)” featuring the Sanno Ondo (Bon dance), which is held in the evening.
