Ningyocho Amazake Yokocho “Cherry Blossom Festival

2,000 cups of amazake (sweet sake) were offered free of charge to coincide with the blooming of the cherry trees.

The Hamacho Greenway, which intersects with Amazake Yokocho in Nihonbashi Ningyocho, is lined with someiyoshino and oshimazakura cherry trees. During the blooming season, many cherry blossom viewers come to enjoy the beautiful arches of cherry trees. The Amazake Yokocho Shopping Association offers 2,500 cups of amazake made by local people for free. Also, a lucky draw is held to win specialty foods and other items with coupons given when shopping in Amazake Yokocho. Every year, people line up to win the famous Amazake Yokocho products. The amazake and the fukubiki prizes end when they run out, so be sure to come early.
