Tamahime Inari Shrine “Shoe Megumi Matsuri Market

November 18 and 19, 2023

The Shoe Megumi Matsuri Market is a market conducted by shoe makers, who are the Ujiko (shrine parishioners) of Tamahime Inari Shrine, in appreciation of the blessing of shoes as the “Shoe Festival”, and will be held for the 49th time in 2023.
The event promotes the leather industry, a local industry of Taito City, Tokyo. More than 30 manufacturers will sell approximately 100,000 leather products such as shoes, bags, and belts at 60% to 80% off the market price.
Also, for the first time in four years, a “shoe mikoshi,” a portable shrine with objects in the shape of shoes on it, will be paraded through the precincts of the shrine.

The award ceremony for the 16th Japan Shoes Best Dresser Award will be held at 10:00 a.m. on the 18th.
The winners are all actors Susumu Terashima (senior category), Umika Kawashima (female category), and Mizuki Itagaki (male category). The results of the competition by young shoe designers will also be announced.
