Tokyo Art & Antiques – Nihonbashi/Kyobashi Art Festival

Holding period

2023.04.27 〜 2023.05.31

Touring antique stores and images to enjoy art in a casual way.

The Kyobashi/Nihonbashi area in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, is famous for its long-established and well-known stores. In fact, it is the second largest art district after Ginza, with a concentration of specialty stores selling antiques, crafts, Japanese paintings, modern paintings, sculptures, and prints since the postwar period.

The “Tokyo Art & Antiques~Nihonbashi/Kyobashi Art Festival” is an annual spring event, and this year 86 art stores and 1 art gallery organization will participate. This event is a tour of antique stores and galleries in the Nihonbashi/Kyobashi area. The goal is to actually pick up and touch art works rather than viewing them through glass, to talk with owners and artists who have deep knowledge and love for art, and to pass on the charm of art to the present day. Even those who normally feel intimidated by antique stores and art galleries can drop by during this event and experience art in a casual manner.

From hidden galleries known only to connoisseurs to long-established stores frequented by celebrities, experience the depth of not only antiques and antiquities, but also contemporary art, through interaction with the owners. Red flags with a white logo on the storefronts and windows are the markers of the relevant facilities.

Talk events and workshops are held during the exhibition period, and more than half of the stores hold special exhibitions.
