Uso,” a bird said to bring good luck. It is believed that if the “Uso” doll from the previous year is returned to the shrine and replaced, the bad things that have happened in the past will become “Uso” and bring good omens for the year ahead, bringing good luck, success, and good fortune. The Hatsutenjin is also crowded with people and is dedicated to the performance of sato-kagura (traditional Shinto music and dance).
The “Usotori” of Kameido Tenjinja is made by hand by priests with all their hearts from hinoki cypress, and is popular as a precious good luck charm available only on this day.
