Holding period

2023.04.26 〜 2023.05.15

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the museum’s opening, the exhibition features outstanding works that symbolize the collection.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Hosomi Museum of Art, which continues to present the beauty of Japan both domestically and internationally, the museum will hold an exhibition featuring approximately 100 outstanding works that represent the collection. The masterpieces collected by three generations of the Hosomi family, beginning with the Showa-era industrialist “Ryo Hosomi,” span a wide range of periods and fields, providing a comprehensive overview of Japanese art.

In the five chapters of “Form of Prayer”, “The Heart of Sukiyori”, “A Time of Splendor”, “Yearning for Rimpa”, and “The Power of Jakuchu”, we introduce the gems of Edo paintings such as Ito Jakuchu and Rimpa, the art of the tea ceremony, Buddhist paintings, and solemn implements.

Among them, “Rooster in snow” and “Chicken” by Jakuchu Ito, “Waka-sho fan-mask with underpainting of plum blossoms” by Koetsu Honami and underpainting by Sotatsu Tawaraya, “Willow” by Korin Ogata, and other representative works are not to be missed.
