Holding period

2022.10.29 〜 2022.12.18

A world of beauty in ceramics born from the exchange between East and West

Unusual shapes and exotic designs. Ceramics are rich in variety and have enriched people’s lives. Not only are they rooted in local cultures and climates, but they have also created fascinating cultures as people from Asia and Europe interacted with each other and were attracted to each other’s beautiful decoration and techniques. This exhibition invites you to the world of the beauty of ceramics created through exchanges between East and West, from ancient times to modern times, including Japanese and Chinese ceramics, Islamic ceramics, Meissen and Sèvres, and even Kenkichi Tomimoto (1886-1963) and Namizan Itaya (1872-1963). The exhibition will be held at the museum.
