Hagi Festival (held at Hagi Shrine in Kyoto on May 15)

Holding period

2022.09.17 〜 2022.10.02

Don’t miss the 30-meter “Hagi Tunnel” with hagi flowers in full bloom.

Mukojima Hyakkaen, located in Higashi Mukojima, Sumida-ku, Tokyo, will hold a “Hagi Festival” when “hagi,” one of the seven flowers of autumn, is at its best. A must-see is the “Hagi Tunnel,” a 30-meter-long display of pretty hagi flowers. The reddish purple of the Miyaginohagi, the white of the Shirobana Hagi, and the green of the leaves beautifully color the tunnel. In addition, more than 10 varieties of bush clovers are in full bloom.

There will also be “Shinnai Nagashi” (September 23, 11:30, 14:30, about 30 minutes each time, free of charge), a live performance in which two shamisen instruments are played while walking together and Shinnai-bushi (a traditional Japanese folk song) is performed, and “Wildflower Watching” (September 24, 11:40, 14:40, about 1 hour each time, free of charge), in which visitors can observe wildflowers in the park under the guidance of an instructor. There will also be many events such as “Wild Grass Watching” (September 24, 11:40, 14:40, about 1 hour each time, free of charge), where visitors can observe wildflowers in the park under the guidance of a lecturer.
In addition to bush clovers, the “seven flowers of autumn” are also planted: bellflower, kudzu, cauliflower, thin, meadowlark, and wisteria hakama.
