The Azalea Garden at Nezu Shrine is open only during the Bunkyo Azalea Festival in April, the azalea blooming season. The garden is known as one of the best places to view azaleas in the 23 wards of Tokyo, with 3,000 azalea plants of about 100 varieties blooming on an area of about 2,000 tsubo (about 2,000 m2).
