Daikon Festival

Holding period

2023.01.07

Eat daikon radish after the offering to receive virtue and good health.

The “Daikon Festival” is a unique event held at the Waitanzan Seiten (Mt. Waitanzan Honryuin) in Asakusa. Daikon, with its light flavor, neutralizes toxins in the body and aids in digestion. It is said that if you receive the offering, you will receive the virtues of the Sacred Heavenly Host and gain physical and mental health.

At the Daikon Festival, the daikon offered to the main deity is cooked as furofuki daikon and served to worshipers along with gojinshu (rice wine). 2023 will be a smaller scale event, and instead of being served on the spot, the fresh daikon offered the day before and furofuki miso will be served as a souvenir, limited to 1,000 servings.
