Exhibit of famous swords from the collection of Hosokawa Moritate

Hosokawa Moritate, the founder of Eiseibunko, is known as a collector of Zen priests’ paintings and calligraphy, modern paintings, oriental art, and swords. This exhibition features a number of famous swords that attracted him. Four national treasures and other famous swords, including “Utasen Kanetada,” believed to have been made in the Muromachi period (1336-1573), will be on display, along with episodes from his collection. This is the first time in about eight years that the four national treasures are displayed together. In addition, sword mounts (the exteriors of Japanese swords) made in Higo will also be on display.
In addition, there will be a stamp rally at spots around Eiseibunko and a panel exhibition at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo, as well as other events in collaboration with the popular game “Toukendanbu ONLINE.
