Izu Oshima Camellia Festival

Holding period

2023.01.29 〜 2023.03.26

A major event associated with camellia, the symbol of Izu Oshima

Approximately 3 million camellias grow wild on Izu Oshima and are an essential part of island life. Starting in late January, the camellia’s blooming season, the “Camellia Festival” will be held to welcome the early arrival of spring. Starting with the opening ceremony held at a special venue in the Camellia Flower Garden parking lot, stores selling specialty camellia oil and souvenirs will be set up in the Camellia Plaza. A “Camellia Queen Contest” will be held to select the “Camellia Queen” from among participants wearing traditional Izu Oshima costumes, and a light-up event will be held at night in the Camellia Garden, bringing Izu Oshima to life with camellia as the theme for the next two months.
