For the first time in history! 89 National Treasures from the Tokyo National Museum collection on display in one place

This special exhibition, held to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Tokyo National Museum, features masterpieces from the museum’s vast collection of approximately 120,000 items collected over the past 150 years, including all 89 National Treasures. The exhibition also features related materials that tell the story of the museum’s 150-year history from the Meiji era to 2022, providing a complete picture of the Tokyo National Museum.

In Part 1, “National Treasures of the Tokyo National Museum,” all 89 items in the museum’s collection are on display for the first time in its 150-year history. Of these, the 19 National Treasure swords are a must-see. It is a rare opportunity to have all of the National Treasure swords on display in the same space.

Part 2, “150 Years of the Tokyo National Museum,” divides the museum’s 150 years into three phases and provides easy-to-understand explanations through related artworks, materials, reproductions, and videos from each period.
