Unagi Cuisine Oowada Shimbashi

Founded in Meiji 26 (1893)

Proud of its traditional sweet sauce passed down for over 80 years

A specialty eel restaurant founded in 1893. The secret sauce completed by the third-generation owner in the early Showa era is called the “Oowada Blend,” known for its refined sweetness. It enhances the savory flavor of the eel.まThe plain grilled eel is also very popular, and many customers order the “Yokubari Kōhaku-jū,” which lets you enjoy both the sauce-grilled and plain grilled eel. There are also many side dishes, including the popular “Umaki.”

For eel dishes, they use fragrant Kishu “budō sanshō,” and all serving boxes are made with Wajima lacquerware, showing careful attention to detail that enhances the main dishes.

They offer separate menus for lunch, dinner, and courses, and also provide delivery and takeout. The casual and welcoming atmosphere is another appeal.

History

In 1893, they were allowed to branch off from Owari-chō Oowada and opened in Yurakuchō.The third-generation owner, Tsunesaburō Okada, took over in the late Taishō era, and before the war they operated 12 locations. The main store was originally in Shinjuku 1-chome, but they focused on the Shimbashi branch opened in 1931, and after the war moved the main store to Shimbashi, where it remains today.
