Okadaya Fuse

Founded in Tenpō 6 (1835)

Known for drums crafted with expert skills, and a rich selection of Buddhist altars and ritual items

Located along Asakusa’s Kokusai Street, “Okadaya Fuse” catches the eye with rows of drums displayed outside. The shop manufactures and sells drums and mikoshi, and also offers Buddhist altars and ritual items. The drums are made in their own factory in Asakusa, where skilled craftsmen handle every step—from selecting leather and timber to final tuning. With reliable skill and experience, their drums produce a beautiful sound and are used by famous shrines, temples, and theaters across Japan. In the shop, customers can test-play the drums and choose based on the sound, which is one of the appealing points.Irregularly, the second floor hosts “Kotsuzumi (small hand drum) trial classes” taught by professional traditional musicians.Their mikoshi are also used in festivals across Japan, including the Asakusa Sanja Festival. They also carry Buddhist altars in a wide variety of designs.Customers can consult about choosing Buddhist altars, and after-sales services such as repairs are reliable, making first-time purchases worry-free.

History
