Find Your Sky in HANEDA” event to experience the local community at Haneda Airport Terminal 2
Find Your Sky in HANEDA” is an event that allows visitors to experience the local area. This event will be held in collaboration with Japan Airport Building and ANA Akindo as a project to contribute to the expansion of the related population and exchange population. Under the title of “Find Your Sky in HANEDA – Akita Prefecture”, this year’s event will present the charms of Akita Prefecture from a variety of angles. In addition to the sale of Akita Prefecture’s specialty products, there will be hands-on activities such as making key chains out of bentwood, a local hero event booth, and a visit to Akita Inu (Akita dog).
■ Main contents of the event
(1) Akita Inu Tour
We will hold a tour where you can see Akita Inu, which is designated as a national natural treasure, up close and personal. There will also be a booth selling goods from the Akita Inu Preservation Society.
(2) Chogin Nagar Event Booth
Akita’s local hero, Choshin Neiger, will appear at a booth at the event according to the following schedule, giving talks in Akita dialect and holding photo sessions.
<About Choshin Neiger.
Akita’s local hero, born in 2005 by volunteers in Akita Prefecture. The name comes from the Namahage event, which means “No evil children! Also known as “Fighting Akita Specialty”. Not only as a hero, but also as a promoter of agriculture, food education, and crime prevention, they watch over the community with their love for their hometown.
(3) Branch candy experience at the Odate City Amekko Market
Amekkoichi, held every February in Odate City, is a traditional festival in Odate City, where the legend goes that “if you eat candy on that day, you will not catch a cold. At the venue, we will recreate Amekkoichi using candy branches and provide a space for visitors to write their wishes on tanzaku strips that will be displayed on the branches.
Akita Nairiku Jukan Railway Head Mark Design Contest
Akita Nairiku Jukan Railway will promote its products and sell “Akita Nairiku Line Head Mark Contest Entry Set” at the booth. At the venue, a design contest will be held, in which you can enter your design using the form included in the application set. The selected design will actually run through Akita as a train headmark. Please check the details at the venue.
5) Wish-writing balloon corner
The “Kami-Hikkiuchi Paper Balloon Raising,” designated as a city-designated intangible folk cultural asset, is a traditional event in Senboku City, Akita Prefecture, where giant paper balloons dance in the winter night sky. At the booth, visitors can write their wishes on the paper balloons used in the festival. The paper balloons with your wishes written on them will actually fly into the night sky during the festival held in Senboku City in February.
⑥ PR booth for the 100th anniversary of Hachiko’s birth
The famous statue of Hachiko is the symbol of Shibuya Station. Hachi, the Akita dog that served as the model for the statue, was born in Odate City, Akita Prefecture, and this year marks the 100th anniversary of his birth. At the PR booth for the project to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Hachiko’s birth (commonly known as HACHI100), original goods will be on sale and messages of congratulation for Hachiko, who will celebrate his 100th birthday, will be solicited.
(7) Akita Specialty Marche
We will have a large selection of carefully selected specialty products (sake, foods, and famous confections) unique to Akita. We will also have special products only available at Akita Airport on the day of the event. Visitors will be able to purchase their favorite products while sampling and tasting some of them.
Shirakami Sanchi PR booth
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Shirakami Sanchi’s registration as a World Natural Heritage site. At the booth, we will introduce the charms of the rich natural beauty of Shirakami Sanchi and offer Shirakami Sanchi wine tasting and sales, Shirakami maitake mushroom sales, and hands-on events.
(9) Corner for making bent-wood key chains
You can create your own ANA original key holder, which can only be made at this event, by utilizing the scrap wood left over from the production of bent wagons, a traditional Akita Prefecture craft. (*500 yen per piece, limited to 100 pieces per day, ends when all are gone.)
(10) Odate-Noshiro Airport Tourism PR Booth
Odate-Noshiro Airport, located in northern Akita Prefecture, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The booth will provide a variety of information about the magnificent scenery and attractive tourist attractions that lie beyond. The Odate City sightseeing character “Hachikun” will also appear at the venue to enliven the event together.
