Easy access to art and performing arts in various locations in Tokyo
The purpose of this festival is to familiarize Tokyo residents with performing arts and the performing arts. Performances will be held at venues throughout Tokyo in a wide variety of programs in 11 fields: traditional Japanese music, Japanese dance, Noh drama, folk performing arts, Yose performing arts, orchestra, opera, contemporary theater, ballet, and modern dance. In order to allow as many people as possible to enjoy a variety of performing arts, admission to the “Folk Performing Arts Festival” and the “Tomin Yose” will be free (advance registration required), and the other performances will be relatively inexpensive. In order to provide young people in particular with an opportunity to experience live performances, student and U-25 prices have been established.
The festival will feature folk performing arts “Commemorative Events for the Mentioning of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage: The World of Furyu Odori”, orchestral performances by the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and NHK Symphony Orchestra, and operas such as “Turandot” and “Tosca”. Children’s programs include performances and workshops in music, traditional performing arts, and children’s theater.
