Ginza Tenkuni

Founded in 1885 (Meiji 18)

A restaurant that has continued to serve excellent tempura in the center of Ginza.

This tempura restaurant is famous for its Edo-style tendon, where the perfect harmony of tempura, sauce, and rice captivates people. Its rich yet refreshing taste comes from a secret technique that no other place can imitate. They especially focus on heat control and temperature when making the sauce. By keeping it heated at a constant temperature, they can always serve the same great taste.

Their kakiage is also exceptional. It takes about three minutes to cook the densely packed ingredients evenly. The crisp texture that cannot be achieved if cooked too long or too short is something only skilled chefs can produce.

The interior was renovated in 2020 (Reiwa 2), offering a warm atmosphere with a sense of luxury. If you want to watch tempura being fried right in front of you, the counter seats are recommended.

On the second floor is “Ginza Tenkuni Shiori,” where tempura is fried one piece at a time in front of you, and on the third floor is “Washoku Yuuzutsu,” where you can enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine. Please choose the place that best suits your purpose.

History

The restaurant opened in 1885 (Meiji 18) as a food stall in central Ginza. At that time, tempura was similar to modern fast food, mainly eaten freshly fried on the spot. After the war, luxurious tatami-room-style tempura appeared. After opening a shop on Shimbashi Saikogashi Street in 1924 (Taisho 13) and undergoing several renovations and relocations, the new store opened in 2020 (Reiwa 2), leading to today.
