History

Founded in Shinjuku in the first year of the Taisho era (1912), this Japanese sweets shop has continued for three generations to the present day.Since its founding, the shop has focused not only on making delicious sweets but also on using carefully selected, top-quality domestic ingredients.The creator of the “Original Strawberry Mame Daifuku” is the current third-generation owner, Kazuhei Otsunoya.Inspired by the shortcakes that were popular in 1985, he developed it and sparked the “strawberry daifuku” boom.It is said that sales at Japanese sweets shops nationwide increased by 30 percent at the time, earning him recognition from the wagashi industry.Today, in addition to the main store in Akebonobashi, there are branches in Ginza, Yotsuya, and Tokyo Station.
