Tokyo National Museum(Tokyo National Museum)

artimportant cultural property

Located in Ueno Onshi Park, this museum has the longest history in Japan. The museum collects, researches, and exhibits cultural properties not only from Japan but also from other Asian countries, making it a sacred place for art fans. The current main building is a modern structure built to commemorate the accession of Emperor Showa to the throne, and is designated as an important cultural property. The marble grand staircase at the entrance of the museum has been used as a location for many commercials and TV dramas, so you may recognize it. Hyokeikan, a Western-style building planned in 1900 to commemorate the wedding of the Crown Prince (later Emperor Taisho), is also an Important Cultural Property.
