Tokyo Station Hotel (Marunouchi, Tokyo)(The Tokyo Station Hotel)

Kingo Tatsunoimportant cultural propertynear station

Located in the Marunouchi Station Building of Tokyo Station, the hotel has a history of over 100 years, having opened in 1915, the year after Tokyo Station opened, and was loved by great writers such as Hyakken Uchida, Yasunari Kawabata, and Seicho Matsumoto. The exterior, the station building, was designed by Kingo Tatsuno, the father of modern Japanese architecture. Part of the building was destroyed by fire during the war and was renovated from a three-story to a two-story building. Later, the hotel was temporarily closed from 2006 (Heisei 18) in preparation for a large-scale preservation and restoration project of the station building, but the majestic appearance of the original building was recreated by many craftsmen and reopened in 2012 (Heisei 24). The hotel continues to be popular among tourists from Japan and abroad.
