The 7,800 or so hydrangea plants on the grounds are a sight to behold!

The “Hydrangea Festival” is held from June 1 to June 30 at Kongoji Temple, one of the three major Buddhist temples in the Kanto area, along with Naritasan Shinshoji Temple and others. During the festival, western and mountain hydrangeas bloom in profusion, with more than 250 varieties and 7,800 plants, making it a large scale event. During the event period, various events such as a hydrangea market, a plant market (Saturdays and Sundays), tea ceremony garden viewing, and a haiku and tanka poetry contest will also be held.
