Katsushika-ku Traditional Industry Craftsmen’s Association Festival

Holding period

2023.05.20 〜 2023.05.21

Touch traditional crafts by artisans in Katsushika Ward

Katsushika-ku, located in the eastern part of Tokyo, is home to many craftspeople who have passed on their traditional skills from the Edo and Meiji periods to the next generation. In order to pass on these skills to the future, Katsushika City has designated 46 items, including Edo kata carving and Tokyo shamisen, as “Katsushika City Traditional Crafts.

At the “Katsushika City Traditional Industry Craftsmen’s Association Festival,” visitors can witness the skills of craftsmen through demonstrations and sales of Edo woodcarving and metal carving. Visitors can also experience and sell Tokyo silverware, Isekagami, Edo faceted paper, Edo costume dolls, Edo tortoiseshell, and lacquer work. Edo komon and gold folding screens will also be on display. In addition, two companies from the Sumida City Traditional Crafts Preservation Association (lacquer crafts and Edo wooden chopsticks) will exhibit this year.
